Open Garden

Start your Mt Macedon exploration at Duneira, with our Open Garden program open for six weekends in Autumn. Enjoy vibrant reds, golds, yellows and oranges in the deciduous gardens, explore seasonal plantings and ancient trees.

Bring a picnic, take photographs and make the most of the entertainment and other delights on offer.

Adults $10 per person, children 16 and under are free.

Take one of our special house or garden tours to make your visit even more memorable. Tours are an extra $15 per person and can be joined on the day.

Gates open at 10am and close at 4pm. Last garden entry is 3pm.

Duneira has a no-smoking and no-dogs allowed policy.

Duneira’s heritage garden c1872 is of national significance. Our guides will lead you on a magical walk through the highlights of the garden in a walk/talk presentation that is highly informative. Meet at the entrance of the Duneira homestead and wear sensible walking shoes.

This special guided garden tour is $15 per person, in addition to the Open Garden fee of $10 per adult.

On the Day: Meet at the entrance of the house 10 minutes prior to the scheduled tour time, cash preferred on the day.

Weekend House Tour – Mandarin

Special House Tour in Mandarin

Built in 1875 by Suetonius Officer, Duneira is a renovated homestead that tells the tale of its subsequent owners. Tours of this home explain the past and present activities and the vision of Stuart Stoneman. The house features an extensive library, artwork collection, Persian rugs, grand pianos and interesting period furniture.

Tours are held at 10.30 and 11.15 am in Mandarin. Meet at the front door of the house 10 minutes prior to the start of the tour.

Price per person $15 in addition to the $10 garden entry fee.

Simon Rickard: Asian Plants at Duneira

Duneira has an interesting collection of Asian plants. From plants used in traditional Chinese medicine, to trees of economic importance, to purely ornamental shrubs and flowers, Duneira’s Asian plant collection dates back to the original garden planting of the nineteenth century, and contains trees of national significance in Australia.

Simon will take you on a tour of the Duneira garden. Wear suitable shoes and meet at the front entrance of Duneira.

Pre-purchase your ticket online to ensure you have easy access to the Duneira garden and parking on this day. Tickets sold on the gate will not include car parking on the premises.
